Our Team
Carol McLean, CPCC, PCC,CNTC
Executive Director, Founder
I am a professional coach and founder of Shift Happens Coaching, we focus on coaching workshops for underserved youth. I am a passionate advocate for social justice and I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Growing up in a close-knit community, I developed a deep appreciation for the value of belonging and the power of community support. I went on to pursue a career in coaching, where I found my true calling, helping others achieve their goals and aspirations.
Driven by my commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, I founded the charity to provide coaching workshops and support to underserved youth who face unique challenges and barriers to success. The charity provides a safe and supportive environment for young people to develop their skills, build confidence, and achieve their goals.
My top values of belonging and making a difference are reflected in everything I do, from my coaching sessions to my charity work. I believe that everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging and connection, and I work tirelessly to create opportunities for young people to thrive and succeed.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking in nature, and volunteering with other community organizations.
Keelin Mayer
Sr. Operations Manager
I have been working with Shift Happens Coaching for a number of years and am always in awe of the passion, commitment and wisdom of the individuals that work tirelessly to support and advance this invaluable charity. A mom of two and a foster mom for whomever needs me, I am a strong and vocal advocate for mental health support for our young people. I find joy jumping in puddles, laughing with those I love and dancing unapologetically to fun (loud) music!
Sherion Aldred
Certified Co-Active Coach & Program Facilitator
My passion for underserved youth and our shared hope, that all youth know that they matter lead me to join Shift Happens in 2017. At Shift, I have had the privilege to coach and co-facilitate workshops and use my experience and skills in the services of youth. I am no stranger to coaching and leading having spent 7 years volunteering as a youth leader and 17 years leading a diverse team as a manager. These years although challenging have thought me more about resilience, courage, and tenacity. I am a compassionate coach and leader who is dedicated and committed to the personal growth and the betterment of our youth.

Justin Inoue
Professional Certified Coach with ICF
Chair of the Board of Directors
One of the original founders of Shift Happens Coaching since 2016. I was originally volunteering at a prison ministry helping coach youth and realized what an amazing impact coaching has on individuals. Optimizing personal awareness, growth and values helps people get clear and confident in their identities. I believe in supporting that process every time I get to have a coaching conversation. When I am not coaching, I’m an avid curler in the winter time and long distance runner in the summer time having completed 10 full marathons and met the Boston qualifier time. I love to paint (Group of Seven style), am a trivia buff having played in “Reach for the Top” tournaments when I was younger and enjoy hiking in the mountains.
Maggie Paul
Vice Chair
In the spring 2021, I joined SH as a volunteer because I am passionate about our mission to support and empower marginalized youth through life coaching. As a Mom of 3 young adults and a
Professional Life Coach myself, I know the power of positive influence, personal tools, and the right people cheering you on to success. Growth, change, and impact are possible for our young people when we give them the chance they deserve. My other passions are travel, long walks, dark chocolate, and quality time with my family and friends.
Anna Trusen
Director of the Board
I joined SH as a board member in January 2023 because the charity’s mission moved me and I believe in the power of coaching to change someone’s life and set them on a better path. I have been working at CIBC in a variety of strategy, and project management roles, and hold an MBA from McGill University. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time with my husband and two cats, trying new restaurants in Toronto’s incredible food scene, and traveling.
Marysa Irvine
Director of the Board
I recently joined the Shift Happens Board after looking for an opportunity to give back to the community. I feel very passionate about enabling our youth – who are our future – to show their brilliance to the world. In my spare time you’ll find me traveling, reading or scuba diving – when I’m not snuggling my 2 chocolate labs.
Jaclyn Shelton
Director of the Board
I joined the board in March 2023, after recently moving to Canada for a new job opportunity. In the States, I worked with several nonprofits and at-risk youth. As a social worker, who went to law school to make a difference and help youth, SH seemed like the perfect place to give back and use my talents. I am excited to bring that passion, knowledge and experience to the SH board. Right now I am enjoying exploring Canada, meeting new friends, and trying new restaurants.
